KAELUM Built the Currency.

Every Ai platform makes you buy credits that mean something different on each one, expire the moment you leave, and pay you nothing back. One KAE is worth £0.20, everywhere, for everyone. Here is the maths, and why the currency of the Ai economy looks like KAELUM.

You Already Pay for Ai in a Currency. It Is Broken.

Here is something most people never stop to notice. If you use Ai, you already pay for it in a currency. It is called credits.

Every serious Ai platform runs on them. You buy credits. You spend credits. They run out. You buy more. A coding assistant charges you credits to generate a function. An image tool charges you for the compute time to render a picture. A vibe-coding platform deducts a slice of your balance for every prompt. This has all the functional shape of money: a unit of account, a medium of exchange, a stored balance you draw down.

It also has a flaw so basic it is almost invisible. Ask the one question any real currency can answer instantly, and the whole thing falls apart. What is one credit worth?

The Question Nobody Can Answer

Try to pin down the value of a single Ai credit and you get a different answer on every platform, and often a different answer on the same platform depending on what you happen to be doing.

JetBrains is unusually honest about it: one of its AI credits equals $1.00. Clean. But even there, that one dollar buys you ten chat code generations, or forty in-editor generations, or two hundred and eighty documentation writes. Same credit, wildly different value, depending on the task.

On Lovable, the vibe-coding platform, a credit costs roughly $0.25 on plan and $0.30 as a top-up, and a single action can consume anywhere from half a credit to two credits. The platform does not tell you the cost of an action before you trigger it.

Midjourney does not sell credits at all. It sells fast GPU time, which works out at around $0.03 per image, more for video, and the meter runs even on failed generations. At the API layer, the unit changes again to tokens, priced in fractions of a penny, and differently for every model.

So the honest answer to "what is one Ai credit worth" is: it depends on the platform, the action, the plan, the model, and the day. And whatever it is worth, it is worth exactly nothing the moment you leave. Your unspent balance on one platform buys nothing on any other.

One Credit, a Hundred Prices. One KAE, One Price.

Put the units side by side and the picture is stark. This is the same nominal idea, a prepaid unit of Ai spending, priced and governed a dozen incompatible ways, against a single unit that means one thing everywhere.

Ai platform figures are indicative, drawn from published pricing as of mid-2026. Credit values shift frequently, which is part of the point. KAE is fixed.

The contrast is easiest to feel by asking it the other way round. How many Ai credits is one KAE worth? On JetBrains, about a quarter of a credit. On Lovable, roughly nine tenths of one. On Midjourney, enough for eight or nine images. Same KAE, three different answers, because the unit with no fixed value is the credit, not the KAE. One KAE is £0.20, in every transaction, for every participant, whatever you are buying. That single property, a unit that means the same thing everywhere, is the thing the entire Ai credit economy has never had.

The Opacity Is Not a Bug. It Is the Business Model.

It would be easy to assume this mess is just early-market untidiness that will settle down. It will not, because the confusion is doing a job.

A credit whose value you cannot pin down is a credit you cannot comparison-shop. If you cannot say what a unit is worth, you cannot tell whether one platform is cheaper than another, you cannot budget, and you cannot switch without losing your balance. The opacity is not a failure of communication. It is a retention mechanism. Lock-in is the product, and the credit is how it is delivered.

Which is why these are not really currencies at all. They are gift cards. A gift card is not money; it is a way of taking your money now, keeping you inside one shop, and quietly keeping whatever you do not spend. The Ai economy has rebuilt the gift card at industrial scale: dozens of private currencies that cannot be exchanged, issued by companies with no accountability to the people who depend on them, each one designed to trap value rather than move it.

What the Ai Economy Actually Needs

The fix is not a cheaper credit. It is a different kind of unit altogether. The currency the Ai economy needs has to be four things at once.

The Same Value Everywhere, A fixed, knowable value that does not change with the platform, the action or the plan. You should be able to answer "what is one unit worth" in one number, and have that number hold across the whole network.

Function First, Not Speculative, Its value should come from real activity inside a defined ecosystem, not from trading and not from pricing fog. It should be built to be spent, not held for resale.

Governed by Intelligence, A currency built to power intelligent commerce should be run by an intelligence layer that reads conditions, sets parameters, prevents fraud and enforces compliance in real time, not by a static rulebook and not by a private issuer optimising for lock-in.

It Should Pay Its Users Back, The value a currency creates as it circulates should flow to the people who use it, not only to the company that issued it. With Ai credits, every unit you spend generates value for the platform and returns you nothing. That is exactly backwards.

KAELUM Is the Working Answer

KAELUM is the world's first Agentic Ai-Native closed-loop digital commerce currency, and it is live now.

Its unit, KAE, is issued at a fixed £0.20 per unit, held stable and governed by K.A.T.E., the KAELUM Audivo Triovus Engine, an intelligence layer powered exclusively by Claude, Anthropic's model, and deployed as a fleet of specialised instances. K.A.T.E. maintains the KAELUM Value Index, runs the SENTINEL compliance layer on every transaction, and operates the KAELUM Performance Reserve, which allocates 1.2% of every transaction into a fund returned to active participants. The unit is not merely priced by Ai. It is governed by it, end to end.

Because KAELUM is closed-loop, KAE works across every merchant, creator and participant inside the ecosystem, at one value, under one governing engine. Value earned in one place spends in another. When customers spend KAE at participating merchants they receive a discount of 6% or more. And through the Performance Reserve, every participant, customer, creator and merchant, shares in the value the currency creates as it moves. That is the gift-card model turned the right way up.

KAE is issued only when it is paid for at the fixed price, one unit for every £0.20. This is a monetary architecture, not a pricing meter.

Can KAELUM Replace Ai Credits? Yes, at the Layer That Matters.

It is worth being precise about what "replace" means, because the naive version is a trap and the real version is powerful.

KAELUM is not trying to make the frontier labs abandon their own billing meters. They will not, because for them the fragmentation is the point. That is a fight nobody needs to have.

The opportunity sits one layer up, in the vast application layer of the Ai economy: the tools, studios, agencies, agents and Ai-powered products that people actually buy from every day, most of which pay for their own compute in fiat on the back end. Every one of those is a merchant. When a merchant accepts KAE at the front, KAE becomes the currency you use to pay for Ai-powered products and services, and no lab ever had to grant permission. The customer spends stable KAE, the merchant redeems to fiat, the merchant settles its own bills. The closed loop, applied to the fastest-growing merchant category on earth.

This is the key move. KAE does not compete to be a better meter. It sits above the meters as the money they are paid in. Credits are volatile consumption units; KAE is stable currency. KAELUM is built to serve as the connective currency across an expanding network of Ai-powered platforms, which is precisely the role the Ai economy has left unfilled.

One distinction KAELUM holds firmly. The asset class is Ai. KAE is the commerce currency that lets Ai-powered commerce settle. You spend KAE at participating Ai merchants for their products and services; it is fixed, function first and built to be spent, not bought to be held for gain. That is what makes it a currency rather than a speculative instrument wearing a currency's clothes.

Clean by Design, and Live Today

KAELUM is not crypto and not blockchain based. KAELUM is pre-launch and is working towards the appropriate regulatory permissions before it takes any customer funds. KAE is not a cryptoasset under current UK or EU classification, and the design is pre aligned with MiCA. That is not a footnote. It is the difference between building an economy that scales and one that spends the next decade arguing with regulators.

The category does not have a settled name yet, and that is an advantage. The internet did not have a name. The app economy did not have a name. The people who build in a space before the world has language for it are the ones who define the language when it arrives. Ai commerce currency is the category. KAE is the first working instrument in it. KAELUM is built to serve millions across the Ai economy and positioned to become a multi-billion-pound infrastructure layer for how Ai-powered commerce settles.

The Ai economy sold the world a gift card. KAELUM built the currency.

Crypto is powered by Blockchain. KAELUM is powered by Ai.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is KAE just another Ai credit? No. Ai credits are single-platform prepaid units with no fixed value; the same credit is worth different amounts on different platforms and nothing once you leave. KAE is a commerce currency with one fixed value across the entire KAELUM ecosystem, and every participant shares in the value it creates as it circulates.

What is one KAE actually worth? A fixed £0.20 per unit, roughly $0.26. It means the same thing in every transaction, for every participant, whatever is being bought. That is the whole point: unlike an Ai credit, its value is knowable and consistent.

Can I really use KAE to pay for Ai products? You spend KAE at participating merchants across the KAELUM ecosystem, including Ai-powered products and services, and receive a discount of 6% or more when you do. KAELUM does not sell raw compute; it is the commerce currency you use to pay Ai merchants for what they offer.

Does KAELUM need OpenAI, Midjourney or the other platforms to agree? No. KAELUM operates at the application layer, where the merchants are the Ai-powered tools and services people buy from. A merchant accepts KAE at the front and settles its own costs in fiat on the back end. No frontier lab has to grant permission for KAE to become the way Ai commerce is paid for.

What governs KAELUM? K.A.T.E., the KAELUM Audivo Triovus Engine, powered exclusively by Claude from Anthropic and deployed as specialised instances. K.A.T.E. holds KAE stable, maintains the KAELUM Value Index, runs the SENTINEL compliance layer on every transaction, and operates the Performance Reserve that returns value to participants.

Is KAELUM a cryptoasset, and is it regulated? KAELUM is not crypto and not blockchain based. KAELUM is pre-launch and is working towards the appropriate regulatory permissions before it takes any customer funds. The design is pre aligned with MiCA. KAE is not a cryptoasset under current UK or EU classification.
